about

I am proud of these songs. However, none of them are perfect. Each one is characterized by some flaw within. I would likely change something, if not more, about each one. Nonetheless, though, they represent a time in my life that brought on a metamorphosis in me; I became who I am through these experiments. They are raw. They are real. Sometimes I had fun playing them, sometimes they were the only capacity by which I was capable of enjoying myself at all. Over the course of their composition, I was in very frequent communication with a poet named Barry Spacks; he led me to harness the power of a critical eye, and to hold my work to intense scrutiny. During this time, I also joined a group called the Revolutionary Poets Brigade, headed by activist poet Jack Hirschman, with whom I was encouraged and allowed to channel my innermost anger with the injustice in society and convert it to a positive, fulfilling energy in the form of music and poetry. Maybe I was a poet before this period, however this is the time when I was fully surrounded by poetry, letting it permeate my whole being, whether I was a poet or not, I became a poet then.
There is order in the imperfections on this album. Often, the recording process was painstaking; if I couldn't find the right word, I would work for hours, days, months, sometimes years to find something, and still if nothing correct appeared, I invested my effort in making the best mistake possible. Sometimes the mistake was the only thing that sounded passable; it's hard to explain.
Despite the disorder happening in these songs, I love them. They are all mine. They are yours. They belong to my friends with whom I shared these times. Thanks to all of them. My fullest gratitude goes out to everyone involved with the production of this album.

Take care, precious companions.
